Our Organization Details
Chaitanya Shravanthi – a nonprofit organization is started by Smt.V.B.Mani in 1982
Chaintanya Shravanthi focused on Education, Agriculture, Water (drinking & Irrigation), Skill Development and Livelihood Management. Chaitanya shravanthi have done remarkable works in tribal area with the support of Barefoot College, Government and Private Donor agencies. The founder of Chaitanya Shravanthi , Sri V.B.Mani garu passed away in 1994 due to Brain Tumor at early age. She was 34 at that time. Chaitanya Shravanthi has constructed 100 check dams with help of German Agro Action till 2008. After that Chaitanya Shravanthi has been shifted to Visakhapatnam with another team.
Chaitanya Shravanthi has started nearly 100 schools for Tribal people education. Day time children used to come and Night time Adults used to come for education. After 20 years of its successful running, Government has taken over those schools. It is one of our greatest achievement in our Organization history.
Smt V.C.Aliveni D/o Late Smt.V.B.Mani came to this area to continue the services with the inspiration of her mother. People suggested naming the new organization as Mani Amma Chaitanya Shravanthi (MACS).
Mani Amma Chaitanya Shravanthi has trained 28 tribal females as Barefoot Solar Engineers and constructed two Rain Water Harvesting Tanks with support of Barefoot College. Nearly 25 villages across 3 blocks were successfully electrified by our Women solar engineers.
Mani Amma Chaitanya Shravanthi is mainly focusing on Horticulture crops development (coffee, pepper and inter crops), Water Problem (irrigation & Drinking), Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Skill development and health sectors. Mani Amma Chaitanya Shravanthi is conducting training campaigns to the coffee growers and sending farmers for the exposure visits.

GIRI CHAITANYA FARMING AND MARKETING MUTUALLY AIDED COOPERATIVE SOCIETY:- A farmer owned institution initiated by MANI AMMA CHAITANYA SHRAVANTHI to improve good practices at farm level and to develop better marketing opportunities for the Tribal Growers. A team of well educated youth has joined with us to look after this farmers programme. They are conducting several training prorammes related to harvesting, processing and entrepreneur skill development training.
GIRI CHAITANYA FARMERS COOPERATIVE is registered for the promotion and marketing of the products. This initiative has given good results and sharing profits to the farmers as well. This team of youth is taking care of it.
Objectives:
- Ensuring good quality and quantity of coffee to the buyers
- Established links between buyers and growers
- After sales, benefits will be directly credited into to farmer’s accounts.
- Strengthen women farmers by forming SHG and farmer clubs
- Continue income generation throughout the year by involving farmers in the processing
- Win- win game between farmers/producers and buyers by reducing the chain length of transaction.
- Introduction of new inter crops
- Establishment of Farmer support center
- Provide reliable loans with fair interest and avoids NPA by prompt repayment of loans. SHG community takes/shares this responsibility.
Results:
- It started with 1 Group. Now we have more than 6 farmer producer organizations in 2 districts
- Increased the production by 20 % within 1 year.
- Organizing Organic certification for 500 farmers
- Introduced Cocoa to our area and planted 25000 saplings successfully
- Got sanctioned support from Department of Horticulture to install Turmeric and Pepper processing units for our society
- Established Coffee Processing Unit under SFURTI scheme, supported by Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
Eastern Ghats – A Value Chain of the Tribal Growers
- To market our Tribal Growers produces directly into the Retail chain, MACS has created a value chain named “Eastern Ghats”.
- It will be useful for the Tribal Growers to increase the opportunities of marketing for their produce at fair price.
- Consumers will also get benefitted by getting Organic products of Tribal Growers at reasonable prices.
- This value chain can be utilized to bring all of our farmers produces under one roof and market it easily throughout the country.
- Tribal youth and women will be employed in the processing of produces and can earn livelihood throughout the year
- We are planning to open outlets in the name of Eastern Ghats to increase the marketing of our farmer’s produces.
- Creation of Brand for the farmers will also help us in gaining recognition at National and International level which can also be helpful for farmers in getting better prices irrespective of the market fluctuations.
